Inscrit dans le sujet « Construire les mondes des co-existences », ce P45 propose une étude des paysages de la France à travers le prisme de la matière et d’une culture constructive in situ. Si « chaque paysage a son langage » (Alain Roger, 1996), il s’agit d’en retracer ses singularités géographiques, naturelles et construites, par un travail cartographique mêlé d’échantillonnages, de prises de vue, d’entretiens, ou encore de maquettes monolithiques issues de la matière locale. Dans ce cas, le paysage-prototype est constitué par un ensemble de relations et de coexistences, et cesse de n’être qu’un espace de contemplation esthétisé par un sujet. Le contexte n’est jamais donné, il faut savoir le retrouver, le révéler et viser un déplacement, une modification des conditions existantes qui interroge. Comment le projet d’architecture peut-il renouveler la lecture que l’on peut faire d’un territoire, d'une culture constructive et de savoir-faire locaux ? Comment l’architecture peut-elle mettre en forme la nature même du sol sur lequel elle s’implante ? Comment concilier des techniques traditionnelles à une conception d’assemblages architecturaux qui joue avec les composants et les matériaux ? Du paysage à la matière, cet atelier propose de construire un langage architectonique qui s’inspire de nos environnements naturels.

Inscribed in the subject "Building the worlds of coexistence", this design studio offers a study of the landscapes of France through the prism of matter and a constructive culture in situ. If "each landscape has its own language" (Alain Roger, 1996), it is a question of retracing its geographical, natural and built singularities, by cartographic work mixed with sampling, pictures, interviews, or more monolithic models from local materials. In this case, the landscape-prototype is constituted by a set of relationships and coexistences, and ceases to be only a space of contemplation aestheticized by a subject.

The context is never given, you have to know how to find it, reveal it and aim for a displacement, a modification of the existing conditions which raise questions. How can the architectural project renew the reading that can be made of a territory, a constructive culture and local know-how ? How can architecture shape the very nature of the ground on which it is established ? How to reconcile traditional techniques with a design of architectural assemblies that plays with components and materials ? From landscape to material, this workshop proposes to build an architectural language inspired by our natural environments.
